This material is long, narrow strips of cane, usually 5-6mm wide, used mainly for strapping and binding. Binding Cane is the natural skin of the rattan. Binding Core is machined from the core from the centre of the cane. Binding Core can be easily painted or stained or dyed whereas Binding Cane is fairly impervious. Binding Cane is natural cane colour (honey colour) and Binding Core is almost white. Occasionally it's also used to make patterned seats, such as those woven in a herringbone pattern for example.
